Message from the Principal

Dear La Cima Families,

Welcome to a new school year! The middle school years are full of growth, change, and discovery, and we’re excited to support your child every step of the way. At this stage, students are building independence, learning to navigate new challenges, and discovering who they are.

We’re committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where every student feels valued and inspired to learn. Your involvement and encouragement at home are vital to that journey.

Here are a few ways to support your middle schooler at home:

  • Keep routines steady: Having a set time and quiet space for homework helps students stay organized and focused.
  • Talk about their day: Middle schoolers may not always open up easily, but your interest shows them you care.
  • Encourage reading and reflection: Reading helps students build critical thinking skills and expand their worldviews.
  • Guide screen time: Help your child set healthy boundaries for social media, games, and devices.
  • Celebrate growth, not just grades: Acknowledge effort, improvement, and resilience—it goes a long way.
  • Stay connected: Use ParentSquare to check in with teachers, monitor progress, and stay informed about school activities.

We’re honored to partner with you and look forward to a great year ahead. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions or need support.

Warmly,

David Humphreys

More Information

Located on Tucson’s Northwest Side and surrounded by breathtaking mountain and city views, La Cima Middle School is  Amphi School District’s hidden gem. Our beautiful campus proudly serves a culturally and economically diverse population.

In Spanish, “LA CIMA” means “The top ridge or crest of a mountain”. Middle school is a time of accepting new challenges and climbing to new heights as students learn to view life from a more mature perspective. Our teachers and staff will always put students first and offer gentle and consistent guidance to students on their journey to the La Cima mountain top.
